These sleeves are a slit sleeve where the outside of the sleeve is tapered with a thread at one end. These sleeves are used in bearings that have a tapered bore where the sleeve fits into the bore of the bearing and when the nut is fastened draws the sleeve into the bearing bore reducing the ID of the sleeve causing it to clamp onto the shaft. This alleviates the removal of the shaft from the equipment when fitting or removing a bearing that would normally need to be pressed onto the shaft. The sleeves come complete with a lock nut and locking washer. To tighten the nut the use of a ‘C’ spanner is required and the tabs of the lock washer are folded over into the cutouts in the nut to prevent it from rotation. Lock nut and lock washers are also available as separate items.
